Frank Thomas Announces Retirement

Frank Thomas to Retire

Former Chicago White Sox player Frank Thomas called a news conference today to announce his retirement. Further, the White Sox are expected to announce that Thomas’ number, 35, will be retired this summer. Thomas, who played for the White Sox, the Oakland Athletics, and the Toronto Blue Jays, told MLB.com that he spent last winter and much of this offseason waiting for offers that never came. This 5-time All-Star selection is also a 4-time Silver Slugger Award winner and a World Series champion. He is expected to be a strong contender for a Baseball Hall of Fame election when he becomes eligible in 2014.
