Britney Spears and bodyguard not dating

The source told PEOPLE that the relationship is strictly professional saying, “He’s her bodyguard and manny. They’re not dating.”

Shippen was identified as the security guard that caught Spear’s son Sean Preston after she stumbled while walking in New York in May 2006. Shippen was working for a security firm at the time, but left soon after the incident. Spears is said to have hired Shippen as her bodyguard.

The pair sparked rumors that they were dating when Shippen accompanied Spears to church carrying one of her sons. They were later seen out at a production of ‘Wicked’ and he has been spotted at the Beverly Hills hotel she has been staying at.

Another source said the assumptions are “completely false” and he only wants “to focus on his job: taking care of the kids and of her.”

Spears shares joint custody of her sons with estranged husband Kevin Federline. “She doesn’t have a nanny. When the kids are with her she takes care of them and she is a very hands-on mom. Daimon also sometimes helps her with the kids. She really would like to have them for more time than she does but she is willing to live with the agreement with Kevin that she has now.”

The source describes Shippen as “funny, but on the quiet side.” He is reportedly “tickled” by all the attention he is receiving by the media, but takes his job seriously.
