Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Jessica Biel star in a new comedy about a friendship that is taken to the next level.
‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry’ is a story about two friends who are forced to act as a gay couple. Problems start for the two firefighter buddies when Chuck (played by Sandler) agrees to sign up as widower Larry’s (played by James) “domestic partner” so Larry can qualify for benefits for his children.
“It really is a love story because it’s about two guys, and they’re best friends, and they’d do anything for each other,” Sandler says.
When the claim is investigated, Larry and Chuck are forced to act like a gay couple. The story ends up on the front page of the news and they are forced to act the part in public or their lie be exposed.
“We’re not great with physical intimacy,” Sandler tells ‘The Insider.’
“No. That’s one of the things that we need to show – that we’re comfortable around each other – and that can be difficult,” Kevin says.
The comedy hits theaters Friday July 20.
