Two New York Teenagers Charged with Conspiring to Attack High School

Police arrested two New York teenagers on Friday and charged them with conspiring to launch an attack against their Long Island high school.

The attack had been averted in large part because school authorities had obtained a journal written by one of the plotters, a 15-year-old boy who had been suspended from the targeted school, Connetquot High School in Bohemia.

In the journal the teen wrote in chilling detail about his plan, “This will go down in history. Take out everyone there. Perfecto.” Along with the journal, a videotape surfaced which showed one of the teens identifying individual students who would be targeted as well as school faculty and staff.

Police discovered that the 15-year-old had already attempted to purchase weapons through an online source but officials have not yet determined whether or not he was able to acquire any of the items.

The teen was scheduled to appear in juvenile court later on Friday while 17-year-old Michael McDonough was called an accomplice to the conspiracy and appeared in county criminal court on Friday.

Both teens are facing up to a year in jail after being charged with misdemeanor conspiracy.
