Bomb Attack on Restaurant in India Kills Eight, Several Injured

A bomb attack on a restaurant popular with tourists in India has left at least eight people dead and another 33 injured.

The explosion occurred at the German Bakery in the western city of Pune about 7:00 p.m. local time, when the restaurant was packed with diners. Many of those diners were said to be foreigners but officials have not released the nationalities of the dead.

Authorities believe the bomb attack in Pune to be a terrorist attack, the first major terrorist attack in India since the 2008 Mumbai bombings.
