47% of Ron Paul's donors contributed less than $200. The Republican candidate average was 17%. In fact, the percentage was skewed as a result of Ron Paul's contributions. This was because every candidate received 17% or less of their contributions from donors that gave $200 or less.
"Those that give small donations are usually those that want change. They generally do not have a lot of money but are still willing to do whatever they can to spread a message that they support" says USAElectionPolls.com.
The candidates strongest in opposition to the war are Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and Mike Gravel. These were the three candidates with the most coming from small donors. Front runners Rudy Giuliani only had 6% of his money from this group and Hillary Clinton only had 10%.
