“Criminal Minds” star Mandy Patinkin is leaving the CBS show due to “creative differences.”
Patinkin requested to be released from his role as Jason Gideon, an FBI profiler. The request was confirmed Monday by CBS network and ABC studios. In the statement CBS said his departure from the show will be explained in an episode this fall. Patinkin’s exit from the show is not due to salary issues or contract negotiations.
A new character will be added to the show after Patinkin’s departure. Patinkin stared on the CBS medical show "Chicago Hope" which won him an Emmy for best actor in 1995. He appeared in several films including "Dick Tracy" and "The Princess Bride."
