Michael Vick Indicted by Federal Grand Jury on Dogfighting Charges

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday after an extensive investigation led authorities to believe the NFL superstar sponsored dogfighting operations.

Vick, along with three other men, were charged with taking part in competitive dogfighting, handling and training dogs for fighting and conducting their affairs across state lines. A home owned by Vick in Surry County, Virginia is believed to be where their operations originated.

According to the 18-page indictment Vick is believed to have become involved in the dogfighting operations in 2001, his first year in the NFL.

A conviction in the case could land Vick in prison for six years and cost him $350,000 in fines and restitution.
