Should Rock Stars Be Part Of Presidential Campaigns?

The current presidential election campaign is turning out to be quite interesting in many ways. One question that is hogging the presidential campaign this time is whether popular rock stars should be a part of campaigns that are aimed at supporting noble causes. Rock singing is one of the most powerful media for wooing and attracting people in campaign rallies. Rock stars have fans all over the world who would be immensely pleased to emulate their idols in every possible manner.

For raising funds and creating awareness among people regarding various environmental and population issues, several rock concerts are organized around the world in collaboration with various rock legends and stars. Live Earth is one such rock concert that was held in the beginning of July. Considered as the mother of all rock concerts, Live Earth was a 24-hour mammoth event that was organized by environmental crusader and one of the presidential candidates Al Gore. This event featured some 150 artists, where many of them were stalwarts of the global music industry. This event was organized to spur consciousness among millions of rock fans on issues such as poverty eradication in Africa, global warming and environmental pollution.

The thought of utilizing the popularity of rock stars by including them in popularizing these events is a novel idea that should be widely appreciated. Along with Al Gore, these people are participating in a noble mission. Rock concerts could be considered as an effective means of getting people to become responsible citizens.

May be it is time for US presidential candidates to take help from rock stars to help them win the presidential nomination.
