John Edwards Has A Tough Time In Iowa

It seems Iowans want to have a clear idea about the candidate whom they want to elect as the President of United States. Iowa appears to have been the toughest destination to handle for John Edwards during his presidential campaign. John Edwards, who is currently the Director of Center for Poverty, was given no respite by the Iowans during his recent visit through rural Iowa, which included Humboldt, Garner, Algona and Fort Dodge.

Some of the prominent issues that came up for discussion included immigration, stem cell research, budget deficit, strategy over Iraq and America’s addiction to oil. The people who posed questions included even those from the schools, libraries and local cafes. Many of the questions were intelligent, informative and showed the sophistication of Iowans.

However, there was one woman in Humboldt who was interested in knowing the fate of women in Edwards’ administration. More specifically, her intention was to know whether Queen Noor of Jordan, who is the American-born widow of King Hussein of Jordan, would be approached to assist United States in resolving the Middle East conflicts. According to the questioner, Queen Noor has done exceptional work for women in Jordan. She has contributed immensely to various international humanitarian efforts and has also been an adviser to the United Nations on issues of conflict resolution.

While answering this question, Edwards indicated that his administration would be looking to utilize the services of Queen Noor as an emissary in Middle East. He reiterated that women would have a prominent representation in his administration.
