Tenor Jerry Hadley died Wednesday at
Hadley was rushed to the hospital after the suicide attempt and put on life support. He died at 11:20 a.m., two days after doctors took him off life support.
He sang many different kinds of pieces such as composer John Harbison’s “The Great Gatsby,” Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte,” and Paul McCartney’s “Liverpool Oratorio.” He performed at many opera houses around the world and is known for his “agile romantic tenor.” Hadley also did a best-selling recording of “Show Boat.”
Hadley suffered from depression and was filing for bankruptcy. He also faced trouble last year when he was arrested on DUI charges. The case was dropped by prosecutors.
