Mitt Romney Files Elaborate Fundraising Numbers

Finally foresight and hard work seems to be working for Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney, who is the Republican presidential candidate, had earlier served as the governor of Massachusetts for four years. Before that, Romney was a successful venture capitalist.  Romney has intelligently utilized his background as an investor for his presidential campaign.

Mitt Romney filed his second quarter reports with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) two days before the deadline. Mitt Romney had raised funds equivalent to $21 million for the second quarter. As a result, the total amount of funds raised for Romney campaign has risen to $44 million with $12.1 million remaining in hand at the end of the period.

Out of the $21 million, $13.9 million was through contributions made by individual donors.  Romney was able to convince some of the leading corporate executives to make contributions. Some of the major donors included Jeff M. Fettig from Whirlpool Corporation, James Myers from Petco, Charles Carey of DirecTV, Mark Speese of Rent-A-Center and Nolan Archibald of Black & Decker.

Another $6.5 million was the loan that Romney gave his own presidential campaign. Romney had earlier invested $2.35 million of his personal money for the campaign. As a result, the total amount of money contributed by Romney from his personal funds is $9 million. Apart from the funds from donors, Romney had also collected $400,000 from other sources including rebates, offsets and interest. However, a large portion of this money was spent on advertisements and campaign operations.
