Hybrid vehicle with batteries can be recharged by connecting to electrical source, they use power plus for connections. Plug-in hybrid can have features both hybrid electric vehicle and battery electric vehicle. The cost of electricity used by hybrid vehicles is less than one fourth of the cost of gasoline used by vehicles. Electric batteries can reduce the production of air pollution.
Hybrid vehicles are having rechargeable batteries, these batteries includes lead-acid, lithium ion, NiCd, Lion polymer, and zinc air etc, the measurement of stored electricity comes in kWh. All batteries in the hybrid car should be periodically recharged. Power grid is the most common recharging source. Power grid can be generated using of various domestic resources like, coal, nuclear, photovoltaic plate, microhydro etc.
The charging time of the batteries in hybrid vehicles limited, it is depend on the capacity of the power grid. The latest handheld device battery manufactured by Toshiba were claimed that 80% charging in 60 seconds, but these kind of batteries are not so much successful due to their heat build-up, this property may make them unsafe for hybrid vehicles.
Most hybrid vehicles users don’t require very fast recharging because they have enough time to recharge their vehicles, they can manage with six to eight hours, they prefer recharge their vehicles overnight or during work time. Quick recharging require continuous attention to plug in and plug out the system, so that many hybrid vehicles owner prefer recharging it at home and another cause they don’t want to visit recharging station again and again.
Charging takes place when vehicle owner connects the charging power to the car through connectors. There are two ways of connection first is conductive coupling and another is inductive coupling. Conductive coupling is simple, it uses sockets and the inductive coupling is complicated than first one, it uses paddles. Puddles make the magnetic circuit, this circuit provides power to the battery.
