According to reports shock-jock Don Imus may be coming back to radio much sooner than anybody thought. A rumor that a deal is in the works to put the acerbic personality back in the booth by September has been fueled by Mike Francesa and Chris Russo of "Mike and the Mad Dog" sports talk show.
Imus was fired by CBS in April after using the term “nappy-headed hos” to describe the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. His firing was due in large part to the campaigning of the Rev. Al Sharpton who organized protests and demanded Imus be removed. CBS eventually buckled and fired Imus who in turn sued the network.
Sharpton now claims that he has no problems with Imus taking to the airwaves as long as he refrains from insulting individual races and genders. Sharpton said “He has a right to make a living.”
