Bill Richardson Wants US Troops Out Of Iraq

Bill Richardson thinks that the assessment of military leaders regarding the situation in Iraq is far from truth. Richardson feels that an independent body should assess and report the actual truth about the situation in Iraq.

Richardson wants the U.S. troops to be immediately evacuated from Iraq and redeployed in neighboring countries. President Bush, on the other hand, has requested the Congress to be patient and not interfere until September. He has asked for more time for the U.S. troops to make inroads into the interiors of Iraq. After September, a decision will be taken based on the assessment report submitted by General David Petraeus, a U.S. commander, and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. Ambassador.

Bill Richardson has now started focusing on peace in his presidential campaign. He accused Bush’s policies of being disorganized, and he blamed all military experts for the chaos in Iraq. Richardson is of the opinion that the current U.S. political and military strategy in Iraq was not working out.

Richardson suggests taking out the troops from Iraq and redeploying them in other countries, and letting the Iraqi government and leaders take on the onus and responsibility of working out a reconciliation plan for Iraq.
