Barry Bonds was determined to snap a slump that had seen him go hitless in his last 21 at-bats. When he stepped to the plate in the second inning the San Francisco Giants' slugger wasted little time as he took Chicago Cubs’ pitcher Ted Lilly deep on the first pitch for his 18th home run of the season.
While the home run cut the Cubs lead to 4-1 it also brought Barry Bonds to within three home runs of tying the all-time home run mark of 755 set by Hank Aaron.
Bonds added a single in the top of the third that plated Randy Winn and Rich Aurilia to make the score 4-3.
The game between the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs is currently in the bottom of the third with the Cubs in front 4-3
