The son of former vice president Al Gore is facing two charges of felony drug possession along with two counts of misdemeanor drug possession without a prescription and a misdemeanor count of marijuana possession stemming from his July 4 arrest in California.
Al Gore III was pulled over on Independence Day after the vehicle he was driving was clocked at over 100 m.p.h. When police searched the 24-year-old’s car they discovered Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, all medications that require a prescription of which Gore did not have. Police also found less than an ounce of marijuana in Gore’s vehicle.
Gore is scheduled to be arraigned on August 1 in Superior Court in Laguna Niguel and is currently free on $20,000 bail.
This was the second drug related arrest for Al and Tipper Gore’s youngest child. He was arrested in 2003 after being found to have marijuana in his possession.
If convicted on all counts related to his most recent arrest Gore could face up to thre years and eight months in prison.
