Insurance Changes Make It Easier To Get Treatment

Narconon Suncoast explains that more people will be able to get good substance abuse treatment because of new insurance regulations.

According to The Department of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury,

new rules will be implemented that will mandate that private and group health insurance plans offer benefits for substance abuse treatment.  The new rules will be final this spring and will go into effect after July 1, 2010.

What this means is that those needing drug rehabilitation will be able to be admitted into drug treatment programs that get results.  One such program is Narconon Suncoast Rehabilitation Program.

Narconon Suncoast is a long-term residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility with a more than 70% success rate for permanent sobriety.  The center opened a 21 bed facility in Spring Hill Florida over a year ago and is licensed by the department of Children and Family Services and is approved as a treatment vendor by the State Department of Corrections.

“In our first year of business, Suncoast was able to successfully put more than 19 people through our drug treatment program," says Eric Mitchell of Narconon Suncoast.  “With these new insurance regulations in place; I am confident that we will be able to help even more clients to fully recover from addiction this year."

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration more than  five percent of people who needed drug or alcohol treatment did not receive it because their specialty; health insurance would not cover the cost for this.   This also may have been one of the key reasons that of the 21.1 million people who needed treatment, only 2 million went into drug rehab programs over a one year period.

“When somebody is addicted to drugs, the most important thing is that they can get into a program that can help them to fully overcome their addiction,” explains Eric Mitchell.  “And it is very nice to see that the new insurance regulations are in support of that."
