Forget Rosie; Drew Carey Lands “The Price is Right” Gig

Comedian Dew Carey was announced as Bob Barker’s replacement on the long-running daytime game show “The Price is Right” on Monday.

The quick witted Carey is expected to bring his clever sense of humor and quirky demeanor to the game show that has had just one host over the past 35 years. Following Barker’s retirement last month there were a slew of high profile candidates that were interviewed for the post but ultimately CBS went with Carey.

Early on in the networks search it appeared as if Rosie O’Donnell had received Barker’s endorsement but the 83-year-old later stated that he had simply suggested that he liked Rosie, not that he felt she was the perfect fit for the job.

It should be a busy time for Carey, he’ll also be the host of the new CBS game show “The Power of 10.”

Nina Tassler, president of entertainment at CBS said about Carey, “"He is one of the most well-liked personalities working in entertainment, and I have no doubt his humor, charm and enthusiasm will endear him to 'Price is Right' viewers.”
