NBA commissioner David Stern will hold a press conference later today to address the recent FBI probe into league official Tim Donaghy and his alleged involvement in point-shaving and game fixing.
While having an official investigated is bad enough, Stern may be faced with a bigger problem, when did he know that Donaghy was being investigated?
Questions have also surfaced alleging that the NBA was aware of Donaghy’s gambloing habits yet the 13-year vet officiated into the second round of the Western Conference playoff series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Phoenix Suns.
Donaghy has been under investigation by the FBI for allegedly betting on games in which he officiated over the past two seasons.
The 40-year-old Donaghy is expected to turn himself in at U.S. District Court in Brooklyn within the next week.
