Kate Walsh’s character, Addison, is leaving ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and Walsh says she is ok with it. Some seem to think it has been a bad summer for the hit medical drama after the show lost Preston Burke, which was played by Isaiah Washington. Washington’s contract was not renewed after he made a gay slur against fellow cast member T.R. Knight. He denies that he said it against T.R. and claims he used the term in an argument with another cast member, Patrick Dempsey.
Now Addison is leaving the show. Walsh says it was difficult to leave the show, “But at the same time, it’s such an amazing opportunity,” Walsh said.
Walsh left Grey’s Anatomy but will continue as Addison in a spin-off called “Private Practice.” “There is the same recipe of comedy and drama in the show. But there is defiantly more humor, I think. And the thing about Addison’s character is she’s off balance,” Walsh said. “She’s kind of like a cat without whiskers. And I think there’s innate humor in seeing someone taken out of their environment and dropped in a place even the most proficient professional would freak out a little.”
Walsh says she does miss her friends from Grey’s but she feels like it’s a “natural time for Addison to move on. What else could she do at Seattle Grace, really?”
