Doug Fieger, lead singer and guitarist of the Knack, has
died. Fieger died of lung cancer Sunday at his Woodland Hills, California home.
He was 57.
Fieger formed The Knack in 1978 with Bruce Gary, Berton
Averre and Prescott Niles. Their most famous hit was 1979’s My Sharona from
their debut album Get the Knack. My Sharona stayed at No. 1 for 6 weeks. Other
hits include Good Girls Don’t and Baby Talks Dirty.
The Knack broke up in 1981 shortly after releasing
another album, Round Trip.
Fieger is survived by his wife, older brother and younger
sister.
