Oscar winning actor/screenwriter Matt Damon received immortality on Wednesday when his name was etched into a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Damon, who is now starring in “The Bourne Ultimatum,” attended the ceremony with his wife Luciana Barrosa and mother Nancy Carlsson-Paige.
Speaking about the honor Damon said “I got to say a few times in my life I've had these experiences that are just kind of too big to process and this looks like it's going to be one of those times. It'll probably sink in when I walk down the street in the middle of the night in about six months and see someone peeing on my star.”
The 34-year-old actor also spoke about his relationship with close friend Ben Affleck saying, “Ben and I lived in a really, really crappy apartment about five blocks away from here," Damon said. "We used to walk up and down here, and look at these stars and ... I hoped, I dreamed that this would happen but I ... thank you, thanks a lot.” In 1998 the pair of friends earned a screenwriting Oscar for “Good Will Hunting,” a film that also earned Damon an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Since that breakout film Damon has gone on to star in “Saving Private Ryan,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” “Ocean’s Eleven,” “The Bourne Identity,” “The Bourne Supremacy,” “Ocean’s Twelve,” “The Departed,” “The Good Shepard,” and “Ocean’s Thirteen.”
