ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, conducted a new survey by asking readers, "Are Internet phones becoming mini entertainment systems?" An overwhelming majority wholeheartedly agree that they are. President Bill Cooper, with ChristiaNet says, "High-Tech cell phones provide entertainment with a myriad of features appealing to people from all walks of life and high-tech Internet phones and phone systems offer better ways to communicate because of the added features not only to individuals but corporations as well." Out of 244 participants, 202 answered "yes" to the survey question. Technology has provided unique ways to communicate and it seems that many Believers are taking advantage of that technology. The cell phones, Internet phones, and corporate phone systems of today are making it possible to communicate in entertaining but also productive ways. One user said, "For many, especially the younger generation, cell phones with web capabilities are very much like an entertainment system, allowing them to play music and games right from their phone." For corporations it means communicating instantly with international clients for a cheaper price.
Check the weather, read the news, chat with friends, take pictures, listen to music, and text messaging are just some of the features of the entertainment devices of today. One Believer wrote, "It is the same as carrying a computer with you, since everything can be downloaded into a phone." While many use their communication devices for entertainment, many others use them for business. Because of this growing phenomenon companies are investing in Internet phones and phone systems that work over the Web for the ease of communicating near and far.
Twenty-one participants answered "no" and 21 were unsure about the survey question. There are some Christians who use their phone strictly for making and receiving phone calls. One such participant stated, "I use mine for calling people." Some readers show concern because of the growing obsession for entertainment as a constant distraction from reality. A concerned Believer wrote, "This is a society trying to fill a void only God can fill." In today's world of high-tech it is easy to become distracted but why can't God be in high-tech? Use high-tech to tell others about the love of God! For more information, visit: http://www.christianet.com/articles/
