Mr. Gephardt has served in the United States House of Representatives for 28 years. During his role as House Leader, Gephardt became one of the leading strategists of the Democratic Party and the chief architect of landmark reforms ranging from healthcare, pensions, and education, to energy independence and trade policy. He has also served as the elected House Democratic Leader for over 14 years, in which he acted as House Majority Leader from 1989 to 1995 and Minority Leader from 1995 to 2003.
