Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber welcomed their first child into the world on Thursday. Watts gave birth to a baby boy around 4 o’clock p.m. The baby, named Alexander Pete Schreiber, weighed in at 8 lbs. and 4 oz.
The couple held a baby shower last weekend at their home in Los Angeles. Guests included actress Kate Hudson and Carla Gugino. The pregnancy was announced in February by Schreiber. When asked about naming the baby he said, “I’m trying to stay out of it all.” He did say the baby definitely would not be named Liev. “It’s an awful name. It’s probably the most oft-mispronounced name in showbiz.”
Watts, who began dating Schreiber in 2005, said last month she was enjoying her pregnancy. “[I’m] just being relaxed and moving at a much slower pace and enjoying it. I’m just really happy to be pregnant.”
Watts is set to star in the next Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince."
