JaMarcus Russell, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, was not at the first day of Oakland Raiders training camp. He remains unsigned, along with second-round pick Zach Miller.
After weeks of dealings between Russell, his agent Eric Metz, and the Raiders, there has still been no consensus and no signed contract.
With the focus on his ability to take over the team this year, Russell will not be able to take the reigns with the rest of his teammates due to the business of the NFL. He and his agent are seeking a $60 million deal. Last year's #1 pick, Mario Williams, signed a six-year, $54 million deal with the Houston Texans.
