Nicole Richie reportedly required to spend mandatory 5 days in jail
Nicole Richie arrived in court today accompanied by boyfriend Joel Madden. Reports say that the socialite will enter a plea bargain to reduce her sentence on a December DUI charge. She will reportedly either plead guilty, or no contest to the charges. Richie’s lawyer initially requested a continuance in order to have Dr. Terence McGee testify that the urinalysis in the case is not reliable.
Richie, who is rumored to be 3 months pregnant, will be sentenced a minimum of 5 days in jail because this is her second DUI offence and the law states repeat offenders are required to serve at least that amount of time.
On August 2, Richie will break her silence on her DUI charges and pregnancy rumors. The alleged baby’s father is said to be ‘Good Charlotte’ frontman Joel Madden.
