“The View” apparently doesn’t feel that one mouth will be enough to fill the void left by Rosie O’Donnell’s departure. According to the Los Angeles Times ABC is in final negotiations with both Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd to become cast members of the Barbara Walters inspired creation.
With Goldberg and Shephard joining the current crew of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar and Barbara Walters the show will certainly undergo a transitional phase from the Rosie year.
While O’Donnell was controversial and highly opinionated, her feuds with Donald Trump, Hasselbeck and the Bush administration served to boost ratings for “The View.” Unfortunately for Rosie her last battle with Hasselbeck proved to be too much and she asked to be released from her contract.
Goldberg is a proven personality that should fill Rosie’s role as moderator. Throughout her diverse career the 51-year-old has won Emmy, Grammy, Tony and Academy awards.
As for Shepherd, she has appeared as a guest host on ‘The View” in the past and has been well received by viewers.
