Filmmaker Ingmar Bergman died Monday at 89. Bergman died at his home, located on an island off the coast of
Woody Allen once described Bergman as “probably the greatest film artist… since the invention of the motion picture camera.”
Some of his work includes “Saraband,” Oscar winner “Fanny and Alexander,” and “Cries and Whispers.”
Bergman’s death was confirmed by the president of The Ingmar Bergman Foundation. He died peacefully while sleeping. The date of his funeral has yet to be set. Close family and friends will attend.
