The Kansas City area will receive about $50 million to make infrastructure improvements. The Kansas City, Missouri projects aim towards improving infrastructure in a 150-block radius in KC’s urban neighborhoods. A portion of the funds awarded to neighboring cities will go toward improving major transit access strips. The grants are intended to encourage a national competition for innovative transportation projects. The department said it received more than 1,400 applications requesting funding for almost $60 billion worth of projects.
