Kate Spade and husband Andy Spade have stepped down from their positions at fashion company Kate Spade after 14 years with the company.
Kate Spade had been the head designer while husband Andy was the chief executive officer of the company they founded with Pamela Bell and Elyce Arons in 1993. While the pair will step down from day-to-day operations they will participate in other areas and will be part of the Kate Spade board.
In November 2006 Liz Claiborne Inc. acquired Kate Spade New York for $124 million. Both Kate and Andy agreed to stay on for a six-month transitional period. They then agreed to remain on until the end of the spring market season which will conclude this week.
The duo will now take time to travel and enjoy life with their two and a half year old daughter.
