2010 Winter Olympics Results Alpine Skiing Women’s Downhill Finals: Lindsey Vonn Captures Gold, Julia Mancuso Takes Silver
Lindsay Vonn put her bruised shin behind her and managed to put together the run of her life as she captured gold in the Alpine skiing women’s downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Vonn’s participation in the games was doubtful just one week ago after suffering a bad bruise on her shin that nearly made it impossible for her to even ski. The American was able to capitalize on several days of delays in the women’s downhill and took care of the course in 1:44.19.
Vonn’s gold wasn’t the only thing the U.S. had to celebrate as Julia Mancuso was nearly as good, crossing the line in 1:44.75 to nab silver for her country, making it a one-two finish for the U.S.
Finishing in third and claiming bronze was Elisabeth Goergl who edged her teammate Andrea Fischbacher by .03 seconds for the final spot on the podium.
