Winona Ryder reveals father forbid her to marry Johnny Deep

Winona Ryder was forbidden by her father to marry Johnny Depp. The actress was engaged to Depp for almost three years after they met on the set of ‘Edward Scissorhands’ on 1990. Ryder reveals she was banned from marrying Depp because she was only 17.

“They were the hottest couple in the U.S. at that time, like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are now. They were cool,” says Winona’s father Michael Horowitz.

“But you stopped the wedding,” Winona says.

“We loved Johnny but you were 17,” Horowitz says.

Ryder and Depp split in 1993. Ryder went on to date Dave Pirner and Matt Damon. Depp is currently in a relationship with Vanessa Paradis. The couple has two children.
