Kevin Garnett Joins Boston Celtics

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday the team has traded 10-time All-Star forward Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics for forwards Al Jefferson, Gerald Green and Ryan Gomes, guard Sebastian Telfair and center Theo Ratliff, along with two first-round draft picks and cash considerations. The Timberwolves will receive Boston's 2009 first-round selection and Minnesota will get back the first-round draft pick the team traded to the Celtics in a January 2006 trade.

After reports yesterday, the trade is finally done. The Timberwolves were in trade talks with the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers around draft time, but both opportunities did not happen. With this trade, Minnesota gets a whole new lineup, while Boston will get Garnett, one of the most talented players of his era, to accompany two other All-Stars, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. The Celtics have just changed the entire face of their franchise this summer by trading for Allen and now for Garnett. Boston will become an instant contender in the Eastern Conference.
