Matt Damon talks about his role as Jason Bourne in the ‘Bourne’ films. The actor reveals he is very particular on which violent roles he chooses to play.
In the third film, “Bourne Ultimatum” Damon plays the former assassin who is returning home to find out how he became who he is and how he can put that life behind him. “Every role I took, there’s always a special eye toward the violence. Violence is part of the human condition. The question is: Are you desensitizing people to violence by what you’re showing?” Damon says.
Damon, 36, and his wife had their first child in June of 2006. Damon says his one-year-old daughter is also a reason he picks his roles carefully. “Those are the kinds of things where I say, ‘Well, do I want my daughter exposed, knowing that her dad makes movies like that?’” he says.
The first Bourne flick, “Bourne Identity” made $100 million. The second one, “The Bourne Supremacy,” was just as popular. “Bourne Ultimatum” is set to be released August 3.
“It’s this guy who has done these horrible things, but now we see he thought he was doing them for the right reasons at the time he did them, but he realizes he was sold a bill of goods. So that’s very much a movie for today,” Damon says about the third film.
Other Damon films include “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Good Shepherd,” and “The Departed.”
