‘Sicko’ Michael Moore subpoenaed by government

Michael Moore has been served a subpoena by the U.S. government for traveling to Cuba. Moore, a filmmaker, traveled to Cuba for his latest documentary, ‘Sicko.’ He took 9/11 rescue workers to the island to recieve medical care for health problems they developed after the terrorist attack.

Moore took the men and women to Cuba for free medical treatment they should have already received in the United States. American's are banned from visiting the island because of a trade embargo from the United States.

An investigation of Moore’s trip to Cuba began in May. The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control wrote to the filmmaker asking him to give them information about the trip. Moore has been ordered to appear in court by the government.

“I haven’t even told my family this yet,” Moore tells Jay Leno on the Tonight Show. “I was just informed when I was back there with Jay that the Bush administration has now issued a subpoena for me, going after me for helping those 9/11 rescue workers.”

Moore insists he wasn’t under the travel ban because he went as a journalist. “The point is that, first of all, can we all agree we should take care of our 9/11 rescue workers?” Moore says.
