Britney Spears cousin Alli Sims launches singing career

Britney Spears’ cousin and former assistant, Alli Sims, is launching her own singing career. The 26-year-old posted her first song on her website Monday. She says the song, ‘On My Own’ from the musical Les Miserables, is “more of a filler song until I get my new stuff recorded.”

“Honestly, we put that one up there because all the other ones I had put down in the past had a little more of a country vibe, and I do not want to go there at all,” Sims said.

Although she is like Spears in the singing department, she says she is distinguishing herself from her cousin in the type of music. “I don’t dance, I’m not pop. I have a more bluesy voice, more Noah Jones-ish. I don’t want to appeal to just my age group and younger,” she says.

“I hope everything falls into place, and maybe by January I will have a lot of things under my belt and get to release something. I just want to do what I love. [Music] is my passion,” Sims adds.

As for Spears, Alli says the pop princess supports her and her decision to go after a singing career. She also says rumors of Spears resenting her decision to pursue her dream are not true.

“She heard my song on the laptop and was like, ‘I love this song! This is you singing?’ She has always been supportive,” Sims said. “I love her; she’s beautiful inside and out. We’re still great friends.”
