MAXAMINE research based on a representative sample of 700 websites reveals that, of companies using tag-based web analytics services, more than 20% of pages on average are untagged and therefore not capturing and reporting traffic data. More than two-thirds of websites using tag-based solutions for traffic analytics have between 15% to 50% of those pages untagged. Additionally, a significant percentage of pages which are tagged are inaccurately tagged, and therefore reporting inaccurate data. Missing or inaccurate tags cause serious systemic errors in the data collected. This in turn undermines the quality of the information used to inform critical decision making while stifling online performance optimization efforts and compromising the reporting of internal or external results.
