Mitt Romney Making Mincemeat of Religious Stereotyping

While the former governor of Massachusetts may not be known to the vast majority of the people because of his political leanings, most everyone at one point or another has been made aware of the fact that he is a Mormon. Yet while some opponents in the beginning were using this fact as a weapon in their attempt to discredit the Republican, they soon realized that Mitt Romney was making mincemeat of religious stereotyping by having considerably individual views; some may actually say that he was so liberal that even his own party may not be able to give him the nod.

For example, did you know that Mr. Romney is in favor of the death penalty while in the past he was also considered pro choice, a stance which has experienced some flux in recent years? Yet even so his environmental stand is not as favored by liberals, and his change of heart when it comes to gay rights is quite possibly a boat anchor around his neck.

While currently and looking forward to the 2008 elections he is taking up a staunchly republican mantle, the fact that just four short years ago he was on the opposite side of the aisle may work for or against him. The polls compiled at the USA Election Polls website showcase that at least in California his popularity has jumped from 3% in January to 10% in June, while in the more conservative Texas he started out with 6% in January and held 8% in April.
