Michael Strahan No Longer with Giants

Perennial Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan will not return to the New York Giants this season. Strahan was contemplating retirement and the Giants were in talks to persuade him to return. After six days of holding out of training camp in order to sign a new deal, the franchise made a final decision to go elsewhere.

Elsewhere seems to be in the form of former Pro Bowl defensive end Simeon Rice, who was recently waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rice took a physical with the Giants recently and spoke to head coach Tom Coughlin. Strahan has not mentioned if he is looking to sign elsewhere or retire.

Strahan, who has the most sacks of any current players in the NFL with 132.5, is best known for breaking the single-season sack record with 22.5. Ironically, Rice is second behind Strahan for most sacks for current players.
