Chauncey Bailey, the 57-year-old editor of the Oakland Post in California, was shot and killed this morning by a masked gunman in the downtown area.
According to the San Jose Mercury News “Witnesses told police a masked gunman shot a man, then fled on foot to a waiting van and drove off. Police have not released a name but sources said that Bailey, 57, was the apparent victim.”
The shooting occurred around 7:25 a.m. and appeared to be deliberate. No suspects have been arrested.
Bailey had been named editor of the Oakland Post in June.
