With all that has been going on since the Bush administration entered office in 2000, one wonders what will happen in the upcoming election. Depending on the source of information you read, the numbers can vary considerably, but from most sources, it appears that approximately 70 per cent of Americans are tired of the war in Iraq and as such, are anxious to elect a president who desires to do what is necessary to begin the process of bringing the soldiers back home. On the other hand, we have the other 30 per cent who feel we need to stay there until the work is completed. Since many of the other 70 per cent were originally supporters of the war in Iraq, it's possible for the election to go either way.
Over the last eight years, we have seen a loss in freedom with implementation of things such as the Patriot Act, and worse yet, the Military Commissions Act that removed the right of Habeas Corpus. We have recently found that the present administration has made it possible for police to enter your home without a search warrant on just a suspicion that you are a terrorist. How this will affect the election remains to be seen, but a recent poll suggests that the final race will be between Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton. Certainly the combination could be a plus or a minus since McCain is known to be a staunch supporter of the war in Iraq among other things. Big on the platform this election is nationalized health care, so they are sure to draw in many who are uninsured or paying extremely high premiums for health insurance.
