How Fred Thompson and John McCain can beat Rudy Giuliani

The race for each side is something that is taking quite a while to come to head. In the case of the republicans, Giuliani is still showing a slight lead, and for supporters of Thompson and McCain, this is very much a concern. There are several things that the latter two can do in order to pull ahead of Giuliani, but they need to get on the ball and get to work.

The first thing that they need to do is to give themselves the appearance of being even more conservative. They are really looking for the conservative base vote, and this is what Giuliani is winning in right now. He is presenting himself as being very conservative, and it is showing in his numbers in the polls. If they want to do better than him, McCain and Thompson need to go the extra mile and make sure that conservative voters are able to see them in the same light.

The other thing that they will need to do is work hard to pull in the voters who might be turned off with Giuliani’s over conservatism. It is very hard to appear conservative to get the base yet at the same time appear further towards the center to catch the others, but the one of the three that can do the best balancing act is going to get the nomination. What this means is that they have to figure out how to please the conservative republicans while also tending to those that feel too much conservativeness is a bad thing.

Other notable Republican candidates are internet phenom Ron Paul and mormon Mitt Romney.
