John Edwards in the South

There are many ways that John Edwards could continue to do well in the polls, and there are many ways that he could make mistakes and not end up doing as well. His claim right now is that if he is able to win the democratic nomination, he will be able to win in the south. This has been historically a hard place for Democrats to be able to win in. There are many reasons that it has been hard for Democrats to win in the south, yet John Edwards feels that he can over come them.

Another thing that John Edwards needs to keep in mind is that he needs to be paying attention to what Al Gore is doing. Right now, Al Gore has said he is not running and therefore Edwards is still looking good in the southern states. If Al Gore does not run, Edwards is going to have a chance.

The reason that Edwards still appears to lag in the race in the southern states is that most of these polls are still having Al Gore’s name in them. This means that people are choosing him, when he might not even be in the race at all. So, if he does not decide to run, many of the people who are right now picking Al Gore’s name will probably go ahead and support John Edwards instead, which means that he is going to have a boost. For John Edwards, there is a lot riding on Al Gore’s ultimate decision.
