The last 4 months has been a challenging time living in Michigan. There are a record breaking number of people leaving the state. Some experts place that number around 20,000 a month while many optimists put that number at a much lower amount. In either case, master marketer Ted Cantu is sticking it out in the D. He was spotted in the MGM recently and had gave his insights on several new projects.
“Being the top of the SEO food chain is not going to be enough to transform an entire city. I have created many imitators in the last few months that’s for sure. But we are facing more fundamental challenges at this time. We, as a city, need to be constructive and to find new ways to sell our products and services.” Says Ted Cantu, (Co-author of the 30 Day Total Business Makeover).
“Everything we do has been about confrontation and not running away. We are losing newspapers, magazines, and jobs. It’s the end of everything we know it. But at the same time it is the beginning of something amazing and that is what keeps me enthused about the future. I tell business owners all the time to stop whining and get out there and learn how to sell. We are living in wild times!” ads Cantu.
In recent months, Ted Cantu has been thrown out of the Dan Kennedy organization for unconventional thinking and following the path of his own drumbeat. When asked if he was upset he quipped, “So what? --- I mean seriously. I got 40,000 online links to my companies and I am in three states. I am rolling the nickel right now so I could care less about being thrown out. I may have said something derogatory about direct mail – who knows. I’m making too much money right now for my clients to give a hoot one way or the other. I don’t have a job, this is what I do. We got to be guess right about everything we do.” Adds Cantu who was recently was criticized for "breaking format" by presenting the first - "living magazine" format online which featured nothing but online videos.
Cantu is creating a marketing movement in Detroit. He is joined with Metro Detroit art marketer Tracey Vitkay and they are showing companies, corporations and marketing novices how to create real wealth in S.E. Michigan. He has also partnered with some of the hottest names in the marketing scene including Markwie Boye, Ed King, Mark Maupin, and Anna Russo. Together they are establishing a new aesthetic for Metro Detroit and how companies will survive here in the future.
Ted Cantu offers a bit of advice when it comes to creating money, wealth and prosperity in Michigan, “The future is happening all around you. Stop running away from it.”
