Publishers at Scholastic, Inc. thought an initial printing of 12 million would be enough for J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows,” but after ten days more than 11.5 million copies of the boy wizard’s exploits have flown off the shelf.
The overwhelming response to the seventh book in the series has led Scholastic to print an additional 2 million.
Released on July 21, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” set sales records for several retail outlets as well as sales for a single book.
