A man who was believed to be in charge of taking care of dogs belonging to actor Ving Rhames was mauled to death by at least two of the animals on Friday.
The attack occurred early in the morning and police responded to a call from an individual reporting a dead body on the lawn of Rhames. No name had been released but the man killed was believed to be 40-years-old.
Los Angeles police Lt. Ray Lombardo said the caretaker appeared “to have suffered a number of injuries as a result of the dog mauling. There were dogs loose on the property. Those dogs have been captured by animal regulation (officers). We have four dogs that have been taken into custody for quarantine pending further investigation.”
All four of the dogs taken by animal services were mastiffs. Police believe that at least two of the dogs were responsible for the attack.
Rhames was not at the California residence when the attack occurred, he is currently in Bulgaria shooting a film.
