Katherine Heigl starts a production company

Actress Katherine Heigl is trying her hand in a new business – film production. The “Grey’s Anatomy” star and her mother/manager Nancy Heigl have joined forces with Will Smith, Madonna, and Drew Barrymore to form their own production company.

The group’s first project is an untitled action-comedy for Fox in which Heigl will star. The plot has yet to be revealed.

Heigl recently starred in the comedy “Knocked Up.” The 28-year-old has also appeared in “Valentine,” “Bride of Chucky,” and “The Ringer.” She will appear next in “27 Dresses” which is due for a January 2008 release.
