NASCAR Suspends Robbie Gordon after Busch Series race in Canada

Robbie Gordon was suspended by NASCAR for the Nextel Cup race on Sunday at Pocono after he was determined to have forced Marcos Ambrose out of the Busch Series race in Canada.

In the Busch Series race Gordon refused to come off the track despite being black flagged repeatedly by race officials. Gordon crossed the finish line first and celebrated as if he had won but was dropped to 18th as a result of intentionally spinning Ambrose out of the race.

Not only was Gordon penalized for the race but was also forced to sit out the Nextel Cup race at Pocono on Sunday.

NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp announced “The way he performed and his actions on the track, in our mind, certainly disrupted the conduct of that event. We're not going to permit that, we're not going to allow that.'”

According to Gordon, he will be allowed to participate in both Bush Series and Nextel Cup events next week but Tharp has not guaranteed that prospect.
